A unique experience found nowhere else in Wales.

This is an experience that only Wings Of Wales offer, a unique walking experience with Harry our Rüppell’s Griffon Vulture in the Brecon Beacons. Vultures the world over tend to be extremely misunderstood birds due, in part, to the roles they play in the worlds environments. The experiences Wings of Wales provide are dedicated to changing the mindset that is driving them to extinction.

Harry is now a bit of a celebrity in this part of the world and his public engagement is vital in showcasing vulture behaviour and the role they play. Many visitors have walked away totally inspired by meeting Harry so we have now decided to set up Harry Walks with money from each booking going towards vulture conservation.

To come on a Harry walk fitness is needed as we have trained Harry to walk up a 380 meter hill where we have great views of the National Park. Once at the top Harry slope soars and with a wing span of 9ft it is a truly amazing spectacle.

Due to his weight and sheer size there is no glove handling during the walk, we offer instead a true personal experience with very close fly by’s which are sure to inspire.

Harry’s species, as is true for most vultures, is now listed as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List with less than 10,000 left in the wild. It is a very real possibility that Harry’s species could become extinct so it is vital for us to do our best to help all vulture species during these experience days.

We offer a unique ‘1 2 1’ experience and can accommodate larger group walks which can be tailored to suit the group. Sturdy footwear is needed and all people visiting need to be able to do some hill walking.
