New for 2026
We are proud to announce that this experience has won an international award, recognising it as one of the most authentic and inspiring bird of prey encounters in the world.
This is truly a day to remember, designed for passionate wildlife and birdwatching enthusiasts. Set in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, this full-day adventure brings together iconic raptors from across the globe in some of the UK’s most dramatic landscapes.
Morning Session
We meet at Ty Newydd Country Hotel at 9:45 AM for tea and coffee before heading to the farm.
The day begins with Harris Hawks of the Americas, giving you the opportunity to ease into the experience by flying these intelligent pack hunters to the glove. In mixed woodland, they often cover up to 5 miles as they demonstrate natural hunting behaviours, pursuing non-native grey squirrels and rabbits.
Next, it’s time to meet some of our international stars:
- Twizzle, our Gymnogene (African Harrier-Hawk) — the only one of his kind regularly flown in Britain. Known for his acrobatic climbing and inquisitive nature, he’s a true crowd favourite.
- Rags, our female Bateleur Eagle (Africa) — with her bold colouring, striking presence, and engaging personality. Her unique bond with Twizzle offers a rare glimpse into African raptor behaviour.
- European Kestrels (UK & Europe) — watch these hovering specialists in action as they catch food on the wing, while we explore the reasons behind the decline of this beautiful British bird.
The morning concludes with a light lunch and refreshments back at the hotel.
Afternoon Session
After lunch, we venture into the remote highlands of the National Park — an off-road journey into true eagle territory.
Here you’ll meet Florence, our White-Tailed Sea Eagle (Europe). Once native to the UK, this species was driven to extinction, but conservation efforts are bringing it back. With her 8-foot wingspan, Florence often climbs to 2,000 feet before descending to your glove — an unforgettable moment in an unforgettable setting.
The afternoon continues with the thrill of falconry at its finest:
- Gyr/Saker Hybrid Falcon (Eurasia & Arctic regions) — using the open skies to hit speeds of over 100mph while chasing the lure. With GPS tracking, we monitor every detail of his flight, adding a high-tech twist to this ancient art.
