Eco Engineers Experience

New for 2024 is our experiences to visit the reserve of the eco engineers, the Beaver.

The Beaver had been extinct in the UK for hundreds of years, persecuted to extinction for many reasons. Their loss has been substantial to the British countryside with poor landscapes and water quality, however in some parts of the UK they are being re introduced and managed by organisations. In other areas of the UK they have also been illegally introduced or escaped from their enclosures which have caused certain situations of concern which has not helped all the good work being undertaken.

Our purpose for this experience is to give the visitor a true experience into the world of the Beaver, their approached to managing environment and habitat and new species that turn up after their work. We can show you the effects of their damming, felling of trees and creating a landscape of true health and well being, not only for the wildlife that moves in but for the population in general.

We also want to show our visitors that it’s not just birds we are interested in but the whole package of environment and conservation, we want to give people the opportunity of seeing what can be achieved.  Like all wildlife you cant grantee any viewing opportunity, but to see the environment created by these magnificent species is utterly worth a visit.

Introduction to the species and their history, short journey to the site by vehicle or by foot if you fancy.

A tour around the two acre enclosed area not accessible to the public.

A 30 minute hide experience to watch the wildlife around the reserve.
